February 2018, and Ann-Marie\nreceives an offer she cannot refuse from the RHS: to design and build\na small garden at Hampton Court, possibly a backyard-type, to\ncelebrate the 30th<\/sup> anniversary of the BBC 1\u2019s flagship\nprogramme Countryfile. The brief is just her cup of tea: nature,\nwildlife, preservation and diversity of plants. Although the time\nrestraint (5 months instead of the customary 18), the extremely\nlimited budget and the Counryfile wish list may warrant something\nstronger than tea! \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To involve the whole\nnation, the idea of mirroring the diverse landscapes of the British\nIsles was born, followed by a period of intensive research into\nnative plants relating to Scotland, the Dales, Lakes, Wales, the\nSouth and the Coast. It had to include massive boulders, a stream,\nponds complete with a mini Giant Causeway, a hill representing the\nScottish Highlands, and farming (a field planted with barley,\nfeaturing a classic Ferguson T20 tractor). By this time the suggested\nbackyard had grown to 600 square metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
